Catpain Unicorn/Unite and Take Over!

Phoenix Comicon was a burst of inspiration and the much needed creative jolt.  I think for everyone around me.  Everyone I know that came from the event was just reminded how awesome it is to create.

I spent the weekend with Christian’s family.  We have outlined our next three comic book projects and one of them is Captain Unicorn.

We have deciced to make a comic that is original and empowering to everyone.   As much as I love rehashing out the same old 60′s super heroes, but I want to tell you something that you have been looking for.  A new idea.

Here is some preview art of the three part mini series.  If Dexter season six and “life” doesn’t get  in the way, you should have three new comics out before TCC.

Friend C.V. and I on Facebook to get the most update information on our current projects.

We are currently focusing our energy towards a comic book anthology called “Unite and Take Over” with Spaz Dog Press.  All the stories are inspired by The Smiths/Morrissey music.  C.V. and I signed up and picked “Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One Before” as our influence.  The script is finished and off to C.V. and the book is supposed to debut at the Tucson Comic Con!

Secret projects and big stuff coming this year.  We got six months left, so lets make them count.

Phoenix Comicon '11 May 26-29th

Phoenix Comicon '11 May 26-29th

May is officially my busiest month and I couldn’t have it any other way. Evil Robo and myself (which I’m a part of, so there is no confusion) were invited to this year’s Phoenix Comicon 2011. I have been an attendee for as long as I can remember and now I’m the official guest list. A very different experience for me, and it’s awesome.

I will be at Phoenix Comicon at Artist Alley #649 alongside my good buddies Matt Howard, Eric Schock, Johnny Redman V, Santino A Castaneda, and on Sunday my comic booker and friend Arnie Bermudez. I am one hundred and ten percent thankful to Jesse James Criscione, the “Six Shooter”. He is a very generous and kind person that took pity on us. In return the Evil Robo Presents preview issue that is exclusively to the con and Jesse James Comics variant. It was that or flowers, so I thought he would like the flowers brought to him by a man in a Hawk Eye costume.

The much anticipated Evil Robo Productions Ash Tray Comics #9 is making it’s debut at Phoenix Comicon!  I co wrote a story with Matt Howard called “Dwight Danger: Zombie Hunter”.  His art work on this is steallar and I covered it with words, shame on me.  Also some of Eric’s Bald Avenger, Taylor’s Pontintal and Sasa Bralic’s Diver is in this issue.  They just keep getting better and better with every issue.  Come out get some sketches purchase some funnies and have a good time!

Mark Waid laid the smack down on Robert Granito at Mega Con this past weekend:

I’m sure this was Rob’s worst of weekend of his life.  Hope no one takes this too far.

Piracy. It’s just plain stealing.

It’s important to buy records.

Period.

A lot depends on the sale of a record.   Album sales have a huge consequence things like touring, merchandise, and the band itself.  I think people forget that there is a huge corporate business that pays for this album, and  they want their money back.

I know most of you have jobs.  What if everyone was doing your job for free?  Then your out of a job.

I’m not being entirely fair with this whole piracy thing.  Nothing is definite, there is a polar positive side to stealing from people.  Piracy gains more readers and listeners.  One of my favorite writers Neil Gahman had some interesting things to say about piracy:

“Then I started to notice that two things that seemed much more significant. One of which was that places where I was being pirated — particularly Russia (where people were translating my stuff into Russian and spreading it out into the world) I was selling more and more books. People were discovering me through being pirated. And then they were going out and buying the real books, and when a new book would come out in Russia it would sell more and more copies.”

Do something noble and buy album, book, comic book, movie that was independently made.  Ask your retailer or friends online whats good.  What are your thoughts?  Message me.
